In Newark, Ohio, is a basket sitting on over 24,000 square feet. The basket is an extraordinary replica of the Medium Market Basket created by the former owner of the building, the Longaberger Company. Employees moved into Longaberger’s new office on Dec. 17, 1997.
But when the market for baskets dropped, the building was vacated and put up for sale. It was sold in 2017 to Coon Restoration owner Steve Coon. In 2019, Coon promised it would become a luxury hotel, but in 2021, the building was placed back on the market.
Today, Coon is trying again to redevelop the basket.
