Columbus ranks as top city for tech workers

When you think of tech careers, you think Silicon Valley. Not so fast. In a recent report by personal finance startup SmartAsset, Columbus ranks as the best city for tech workers, based on certain criteria.

The online financial institution used five factors for its ratings: percentage of people employed in tech, average salary, salary compared to other fields, unemployment rate and cost of living.

This is the third straight year that Columbus was voted the best city. Dallas, Raleigh, Cedar Rapids and Davenport rounded out the top five. It’s a reminder that tech jobs can flourish beyond the traditional hubs.
