Move Over law now in 20th year

Ohio Move Over law

As the construction season gets underway, we all should be more alert and ready to move over for road workers and first responders. Like many states, Ohio has its own version of the Move Over law, which first took effect here in 1999.

The law requires drivers to move over to an adjacent lane when they see flashing or rotating lights up ahead. You should slow down and proceed with caution if moving over isn’t possible because of traffic or weather conditions or lack of a second lane. Fines are doubled for disobeying the law. So let’s drive safely, Ohio.
