Godspeed to the 1-145th Armored Regiment!
Last week, the Canton Memorial Civic Center was packed with families and friends of the soldiers comprising the 1-145th regiment. The call-to-duty ceremony sent almost 600 of Ohio’s finest National Guard soldiers to new assignments.
The dignitaries included Gen. John C. Harris Jr., adjutant general of Ohio; Gov. Mike DeWine; Rep. Anthony Gonzalez; Secretary of State Frank LaRose and more. The unit is headed for training at Fort Bliss, Texas.
The crowd was touched when Vietnam veterans stood up. Families and spouses received numerous rounds of applause for “their service.”
