Playhouse on the Square is mostly known for presenting hard-hitting, thought-provoking productions. This season, with productions like “Pass Over” and “Roe,” its reputation holds true. But the theatre curates a season balanced with a healthy dose of family entertainment as well.
Season 54 will feature regional and world premieres of “Junie B’s Essential Survival Guide to School,” “Freckleface Strawberry” and a hip-hop musical adaptation of “Pinocchio” that will tour schools throughout the Mid-South. The theatre’s family tradition continues through Dec. 22 with the much-adored “Wizard of Oz.”
So, yes, the theatre tells hard-hitting stories. But they have a softer side too.
