Professional sports have player of the year awards, but did you know that Ohio has a similar recognition for teachers? Voting is now open until April 5 for the 2020 Ohio Teacher of the Year. School administrators, colleagues, community members, parents or students may submit nominations.
Since its inception in 1964, the Ohio Teacher of the Year award identifies exceptional teachers for their work inside and outside the classroom. Teachers need five years in a classroom to qualify. Last year’s recipient was Mona Al-Hayani. Some teachers from Ohio go on to receive the National Teacher of the Year award.
