Whitewater paddling is a bit much for me; flat-water paddling is my speed. If you’re of the same inclination, add the near-shore waters of Lake Erie to your destinations. Six paddling events will take place on the lake and its tributaries.
The Erie Series starts June 1 in Lorain and concludes Aug. 24 at Kelleys Island, with stops in Cleveland, Erie, Fairport Harbor and a second race in Lorain. Depending on the event, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes will participate in flat-water races. A typical event will have race categories for pros and youth and one for fun.
