This National Historic Trail goes through 16 states, including Kentucky

Over 200 years ago, Lewis and Clark went on an expedition that lasted three years. From 1803-1806, the duo traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the Pacific Coast to explore.

To preserve the U.S. and the tribal history and culture the expedition represents, the National Park Trail Service designated 4,900 miles of trail as the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Connecting 16 states and many tribal lands, visitors can learn about the journey, life in the early 1800s and how it impacts us today.

Monuments, homes, cemeteries, museums, parks, rivers and trails are open for visitors along the route.
