You don’t have to go to Kansas to meet Dorothy and the gang. They will be in Twinsburg the weekend of Sept. 28-29 for the Ohio Wizard of Oz Festival. The two-day festival lets both kids and adults have fun and express themselves creatively.

An estimated 650 million people watched on television as Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk the moon, on July 20, 1969. A 10-day celebration is planned at Armstrong Air & Space Museum during the 50th anniversary of the famous Apollo 11 mission.

You can’t get any farther northeast in Ohio than Conneaut. That’s where 1,700 re-enactors will gather this summer to recreate the World War II invasion of Normandy beaches. D-Day Conneaut 2019 runs Aug. 14-16.

Standing on a pier waiting to take a shot of the sun setting behind the Golden Gate Bridge, a guy walked by me and said, “Cuyahoga, Randy Newman, right?” I was wearing a jacket with the Cuyahoga Community College logo, and he was referring to the Randy Newman song “Burn On.”
