Many people pay an extra fee for specialty license plates in Ohio. In fact, the state now has more than 300 such distinct plates where you can show support for a cause, team or school while donating to that organization.
Did you know that creating a specialty plate first requires 150 signatures from people who intend to purchase the plate? The idea is then presented to a state lawmaker who can sponsor a bill for the plate.
It’s probably not surprising that Ohio State University collected the most money in 2018 by motorists who purchased 22,055 OSU school plates.
