Old power plant gets office makeover

by
Municipal Light and Power Plant

It’s taken $20 million to transform Columbus’ first power plant into modern office space.

The more-than-a-century-old Municipal Light and Power Plant is preparing to welcome Garth’s Auctioneers & Appraisers and Red Architects in March after about two years of extensive rehab work. Original features such as a massive steel coal hopper have been preserved as part of the decor.

A second phase will follow, with the rehabbing of the former power plant next door that replaced the original plant in the early 1950s. The second phase will have a rooftop deck that directly overlooks Columbus Crew stadium.
