The Ohio City area of Cleveland will have the tallest timber frame building in the U.S. The 10-story office tower is scheduled for completion by 2021, part of a $175 million Market Square project by Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors.
The 3.5-acre site is just south of the West Side Market and will include a seven-story, 267-unit apartment building, also timber framed. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the third quarter.
According to the design firm, engineered timber of glued and laminated lumber is now matching up with concrete and steel in strength and fire resistance.
