Chippewa Lake, Lake Erie and algae

by
Chippewa Lake

Chippewa Lake, Ohio, has been my extended family’s happy place for over 75 years, which is why I’m working with the Save the Lake Coalition.

Along with Lake Erie and other Ohio lakes and streams, Chippewa Lake is being attacked by harmful algae bloom (HAB), limiting activities for much of the summer. It is exciting our Sens. Portman and Brown, along with others on both sides of the aisle, have fashioned a farm bill that rewards farmers when they eliminate pesticides and fertilizers with phosphorous and nitrogen, major reasons HAB forms.

Keeping our streams clean starts with you and me.
