IndyCar tires made in Akron

by
IndyCar Akron

I grew up in Akron and remember taking tours of the rubber plants like Firestone with my dad, who worked for rival Goodyear.

Akron will soon get its first tire plant since at least World War II. Bridgestone Firestone is building the plant this summer to make tires for IndyCar open-wheel racing. The first tires are expected to roll off the line for the 2020 IndyCar season.

The tire plant construction is good news for the Rubber City because many of the city’s mammoth tire factories, now either torn down or repurposed, were built in the 1930s and earlier.
