Icebreaker Windpower Sets 2020 Launch

by The 100 Companies

The first freshwater wind farm in North America is gearing up to be fully operational by 2020. The six-turbine Icebreaker Windpower project—to be located eight miles off the coast of downtown Cleveland—has earned conditional approval from the staff of the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Officials say that Icebreaker Windpower—with its $168 million price tag—represents the kind of innovation that will help earn greater Cleveland and all of Ohio an international reputation for taking action toward clean energy and reducing the risk of climate change. It will also make the region a national hub for wind energy.
