Just because summer is coming to a close doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy one of Ohio’s well-attended sports: horse racing.
Horses race throughout the year in Ohio, with thoroughbred racing at pari-mutuel tracks in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Youngstown and short quarter racing in Cincinnati and Youngstown.
Harness racing can be found at tracks in Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Lebanon as well as 65 county fairs running through October. Cedar Downs, an off-track betting facility, is located in Sandusky. The Ohio State Racing Commission maintains a website where you can find local race tracks and the days the horses go off.
