Time to celebrate the big five-oh

by
Cuyahoga River

Standing on a pier waiting to take a shot of the sun setting behind the Golden Gate Bridge, a guy walked by me and said, “Cuyahoga. Randy Newman, right?” I was wearing a jacket with the Cuyahoga Community College logo, and he was referring to the Randy Newman song “Burn On.”

June 22 marks 50 years since the Cuyahoga River last caught fire. The anniversary will be celebrated during the Xtinguish Torch Fest along the 100-mile crooked river.

Also, the Ohio EPA has declared Cuyahoga River fish safe to eat, and there’s going to be tubing in Cuyahoga Falls.
