Once a mecca for networking, revelry and sport, the Cleveland Athletic Club is a shell. By March 2019, developers plan to finish the conversion of this iconic building into 163 apartments. The seventh-floor ballroom, which hosted memorable events since 1911, will become office space.
Renamed The Athlon – Greek for prize or contest – the $61 million project is one of the last missing links on Euclid Avenue between Public Square and Playhouse Square. Apartments will range from 625 to 1,500 square feet, including two- and three-story units carved out of the former gym, squash courts and bowling alley.
