Every summer, owners of a unique vehicle called an Amphicar gather in Celina for their ritual “splash-in” and take visitors for rides on water. The 2019 edition of the Celina Lake Festival is set for July 24-28 at Grand Lake St. Mary’s State Park.
The event is co-sponsored by the International Amphicar Owners’ Club, and each year, 30-40 of the unusual automobiles are available for rides and photos. The festival is fun for those who enjoy riding the car down a ramp into the water.
The Amphicar was launched at the 1961 New York Auto Show.
