More than a half million people will gather at Cincinnati’s Sawyer Point on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend for Riverfest, the traditional end-of-summer extravaganza. The event began more than 40 years ago when WEBN treated the tri-state area to a fireworks show to celebrate the radio station’s tenth anniversary.
The party has grown to an all-day affair with music, food, entertainment and family fun. On both sides of the Ohio River, people view the choreographed 30-minute fireworks show while listening to the soundtrack on WEBN. One tradition is the annual Rubber Duck Regatta—the pitching of 100,000 rubber ducks off a bridge to race downriver.
